課程概述 |
**This course starts from Week 6 (October 28th); for COS students interested in enrolling in this course, please send a notice to freddyycchen@gmail.com by the second week**
This course aims to familiarize students with fundamental skills concerning academic English writing in Science fields. This course includes two hours of lecture plus one hour of skill-based hands-on tasks and/or discussion. Topics to be covered include common rhetorical patterns, paragraph/essay developments, and essential academic English writing skills and strategies. |
課程目標 |
By the end of the course, students will
1. Understand and apply common rhetoric modes in academic writing;
2. Produce English paragraphs and essays with good logic and coherence;
3. Demonstrate familiarity with essential academic English writing skills and strategies;
4. Edit and proofread their own and their peers’ writing. |
課程要求 |
1. Learners are required to attend all classes.
2. Active participation in class discussions is required.
3. Comprehension check tasks are conducted in the beginning and at the end of each class session to reinforce students' learning and transferable skills.
4. Writing assignments are carefully scheduled as stages toward the fulfillment of the course’s objectives. Late assignments will not be accepted.
5. This course is not open to auditors. |
